SEPTA Launches Multi-Rider Feature for Contactless Payments

SEPTA is launching its multi-rider feature for contactless payments starting on Friday, May 8. This means customers on all modes – buses, subways, trolleys, and Regional Rail – can easily tap their credit/debit card or mobile wallet at a validator to pay the fares for up to five riders.

Up until now, this feature was only available when using a SEPTA Key card. Expanding it to contactless payments offers more convenience for groups who may not want to plan their trips in advance, purchase a physical Key card, or use cash to pay their fares – just tap and go.

In addition to the added convenience for regular riders, the launch comes in time for SEPTA to welcome visitors from across the country and the world for the PGA Championship, FIFA World Cup, MLB All Star Game, and exciting events this summer to celebrate America’s 250th birthday.

SEPTA Celebrates New Ardmore Station with Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony

SEPTA gathered with elected officials and other stakeholders to cut the ribbon at the new Ardmore Station on the Paoli/Thorndale Regional Rail Line. Service to the new station, located at 39 Station Ave, began on March 23.

The station was rebuilt as part of SEPTA’s Station Accessibility Program, making it fully ADA accessible with new elevators, ramps, and high-level platforms.

“We are excited to welcome riders to the new Ardmore Station,” said SEPTA Board Chair Kenneth E. Lawrence Jr. “I want to thank the Ardmore community and our federal, state, and local funding partners for their support and patience throughout this project. This new station will enhance the experience of taking Regional Rail to Ardmore or transferring from the many nearby bus routes.”

Ardmore is one of the most heavily-traveled stations on the Paoli/Thorndale Line, which has the highest Regional Rail ridership with an average of more than 14,000 weekday passenger trips.

In addition to the accessibility enhancements, other improvements include the new inbound station building; outbound shelters; passenger amenities; new lighting, signage, and landscaping; and stormwater management.
